Olivia is becoming increasingly green – downtown Gdansk transforms concrete into gardens

Olivia Centre in Gdansk has undergone an impressive transformation – just a few years ago, greenery accounted for only 5% of the complex's surface, today it is almost half of the entire area. Office space has transformed into a vibrant, green ecosystem with tree-lined walkways, pocket gardens, green patios and modern recreational spaces. One of the greatest attractions has become the exotic Olivia Garden, where as many as 4,000 plants from five continents were planted, some reaching 11 meters in height. It is not only an aesthetic decoration, but also a place of meetings, work and relaxation for employees, residents of the Tri-City and visitors.

The changes were not accidental – they were preceded by research and design thinking workshops that involved the users of Olivia themselves. Their needs and ideas translated into concrete projects that today actually affect work comfort and quality of life in the center. The project, carried out by the Design Anatomy studio, emphasizes functionality, aesthetics and environmental care. Greenery not only creates a friendly environment, but also supports mental well-being, improves social relations and promotes efficiency. Hard surface areas were reduced, and green islands appeared in their place, which store water, support air circulation and provide shelter for insects.

The investor is not slowing down and is already working on further green projects – new pocket parks, fruit tree sections and a rose garden are planned. The green transformation of Olivia Centre is an example of how modern workspaces can harmoniously interact with nature, creating an environment conducive to both professional development and relaxation. As a result, the center not only meets ecological standards, but also sets a new direction in office space design – with people and their daily needs in mind.
